A glorious 4th of July at Wade House @ Wade House

Costumed staff at Wade House historic site will do readings of the Declaration of Independence, firing salute of liberty, patriotic bunting draped from House front porch, ice cream churning and sampling and behind-the-scenes tours of the inner workings of our powered sawmill with a focus on how the water-turbine produces the necessary energy to drive our up-and-down muley saw from the flow of the Mullet River. Regretting Mr. Wright: Mamah Tells Her Own Story @ Wade House

Mamah, re-enacted by Ellie Carlson, will recount her life for you as it is passing before her eyes at the moment of her tragic and dramatic death.  Mamah Bouton Borthwick was the woman for whom Frank Lloyd Wright left his family in 1909.  She also left her family but not only for him.  Mamah was a visionary, an author and a thoroughly modern woman living in a still very Victorian age.  She was brutally murdered in 1914.  Arrive at 6:30 p.m. and enjoy a complimentary reception.
